Rat Footprints

Description

Well happy 21st birthday to me!

As a gift to myself I got my rats feet tattooed on my shoulder, his favorite spot to sit.

My artist Michale Meo at Rockabilly did an amazing job tracing over the pictures I gave him to make it look like a footprint. He made my first tattoo experience nice and easy and he was so gentle I didn’t feel a thing.

So, I've had lots of people send me notes asking how I got such clear prints, did the shoulder/collarbone area hurt, how much did it cost, how long did it take... ect ect.... So I'll just answer them here!

1. I didn't use the ink pad paper idea, it just dosent seem to work out all that well. All the prints came out deformed or they would only have parts of the foot and drawing the rest in looked odd to me because it ended up being too soild. I got my prints by setting him on a scanner (which wasent as easy as it sounded since he kept moving!) The end result was a perfectly clear image of all his toes and foot pads. My artist then just traced over the pads.

2. As I said before, I didn't feel a thing. That dosent mean you wont though since everyones pain levels are diffrent and some tattoo artists have a 'heavy hand' vs. my guys very 'light hand'.

3. I don't normaly like to say how much I paid for things like this but since lots of people have been asking I guess I will. I spent $80 for the tattoo plus a little extra for care products.

4. Because the tattoo is pretty small and simple it only took around 20 mins to draw it out, get the placement right and ink it.

Great tattoo! I'm thinking about doing the same thing for my next tattoo, thanks for the great tip on getting the pawprints! I did my girls' paws in salt dough and they didn't love doing it... :)
